Naomi Celebrates 35 Years at Avonside!

Naomi Kensett (Advanced Nurse Practitioner), celebrated an amazing 35 years at Avonside Health Centre in February.

Joining in 1990 as a Practice Nurse, the landscape of General Practice was very different at that time. “Nursing in General Practice was an extremely new concept then, however now they are an integral part of the workforce and manage a significant amount of work in the Practice; from blood pressure checks to cervical screening, child immunisations and long-term condition reviews. It’s incredible how much has changed in that time!”.

Indeed, when Naomi first joined the Practice there were two sites – one on Park Street in Leamington and the other on the Emscote Road in Warwick. In 2009 the Practices moved into the current, purpose-built premises and has seen a huge amount of change. The original Partners of the Practice have now retired, and there have been a number of technological changes. Gone are the days when medical notes were written on paper!

After joining as a Practice Nurse, Naomi went on to complete her independent prescribing qualification, and also completed a Masters Degree in Diabetes. Her knowledge and skills have been invaluable in supporting our patients, and her kindness and compassion make her one of the best colleagues and nurses.
