Carers

It is important to let us know if you care for someone so we can offer help and support if you need it. Anyone who looks after a friend or family member who cannot manage without them (due to age, illness, disability etc) and is unpaid is classed as a carer. This even includes people under 18.

Dementia

If you are concerned about your memory, you are able to be seen in your GP practice for an assessment.

Veterans

A veteran is anyone who has served in the Armed Forces for at least one day, whether in a regular or reserve role. The terms ‘veteran,’ ‘ex-service personnel,’ and ‘ex-forces’ all refer to the same group, although not every former service member identifies with or prefers the term ‘veteran.’ This is especially true for younger veterans, who often call themselves ‘ex-forces,’ as many associate the word ‘veteran’ with those who fought in the First or Second World War.

Avonside Health Centre is proud to be accredited as Armed Forces veteran-friendly. If you have served in the armed forces, please get in touch with us so we can support your health needs effectively.
